Hethersett Bunnies Adoption Policy
1. Adoption Process:
a) Prospective adopters must complete an adoption application form providing personal information, living situation details, and experience with rabbits.
b) A screening process will be conducted, which may include a home visit to ensure the living environment is suitable for a rabbit.
c) The adoption decision will be based on the best interests of the rabbit and the suitability of the adopter.
d) Adopters must be at least 18 years old (ID may be required)
e) A nominal adoption fee may be required to help cover the costs of care and medical expenses and will apply per rabbit. This stands at £80 per rabbit.
f) We also offer a bonding service where we will help the process of bonding your new rabbit/s with your existing rabbit. There is a one off fee of £80 to help cover us for our time and knowledge.
F)1) the bonding service fee is excluded when two single rabbits in our care are being adopted together to live together as we will automatically bond them for you before collecting unless you’re adopting 2 from us to then want us to bond to any existing rabbit/s you own.
2. Responsibilities of Adopters:
a) Provide a safe and suitable living environment for the rabbit, including adequate housing, food, water, and veterinary care.
b) Commit to the long-term care of the rabbit, which can live 8-12 years or more.
c) Ensure the rabbit receives regular veterinary check-ups, vaccinations, and necessary medical treatment.
d) Provide the rabbit with socialization, exercise, and mental stimulation.
e) Never release the rabbit into the wild or surrender it to a shelter without informing the organization.
f) Notify the organization in case of any changes in contact information or living situation.
3. Return Policy:
a) If the adopter is no longer able to care for the rabbit, they must return it to the organization.
b) No refunds will be given upon return of the rabbit.
c) The organization reserves the right to reclaim the rabbit if the adopter violates the adoption agreement.
4. Follow-Up:
a) A follow-up visit or contact may be conducted by the organization to ensure the well-being of the adopted rabbit.
b) Adopters are encouraged to stay in touch with the organization and provide updates on the rabbit's progress.
5. Disclaimer:
a) The organization makes no guarantees regarding the health or behaviour of the adopted rabbit.
b) Adopters assume full responsibility for the care and well-being of the rabbit upon adoption.
